Peer Specialist Elevate Violence Prevention Program

Peer Specialist


Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):


1.     Act as peer mentor; model positive productive behaviors and support youth by providing alternatives to violence

2.     Assess individuals for immediate safety concerns

3.     Perform community interventions (at times, crisis intervention) at schools, aftercare programs, and private residences

4.     Provide referrals and community linkages for adolescent victims of violence and their families 

5.     Maintain intensive follow-up contact with clients, their families, and service providers through home visits, telephone contact, and visits in the community

6.     Accompany clients to community appointments and/or events for assistance and support

7.     Function as community liaison to build rapport and effective relationships

8.     Enhance community safety by escorting students before/after school while on school grounds

9.     Participate in weekly staff meetings, professional development/training, and team building activities

10.  Facilitate trainings for community partners 

11.  Complete necessary documentation within required timeframe

12.  Other duties and/or projects as assigned

  1. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.



Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:


1.     Applicants between 18-24 years old with lived experience of community violence

2.     Monmouth County resident 

3.     Strong commitment to working with victims of violence

4.     Knowledge of urban violence and community issues/needs

5.     Ability to work well with diverse populations

6.     Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills

7.     Strong interpersonal skills

8.     Willingness and ability to work several evenings per week, some weekends possible



Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:


1.     High school diploma or GED

2.     Resident of Asbury Park, Long Branch City or Neptune Township

3.     Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Graphic Designer

Graphic Designer


The goal is to inspire and attract the target audience.


Responsibilities Include

  • Study design briefs and determine requirements
  • Schedule projects and define budget constraints
  • Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
  • Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand
  • Use the appropriate colors and layouts for each graphic
  • Test graphics across various media
  • Amend designs after feedback
  • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand

Requirements and skills

  • Proven graphic designing experience
  • A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
  • Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines

Receptionist

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office
  • Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office
  • Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls 
  • Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures)
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
  • Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock
  • Update calendars and schedule meetings
  • Arrange travel and accommodations, and prepare vouchers
  • Keep updated records of office expenses and costs
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing

Requirements and skills

  • Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude
  • High school degree; additional certification in Office Management is a plus
